Sister Marion Field (Sister Helen Thomas), a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on October 15, 2013, at the age of 81 in the 64th year of her religious life. Sister Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marion Bryan, her brother Richard Field and her sister Helen Francis. Her passing is mourned by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, by her sister Doris and brother-in-law, Ted Andrews, her brothers, Tom (Louise) Field and Bill Field, sister-in-law Kathleen Field and nephews and nieces: Steve and Bob Field , Sandy Hahn, Kathleen Perez, Deborah Aynes, Linda Field, Matthew Blair and Kimberly Tyler of California, and Michael, Kathleen, Tom, and Christine Francis, Ted Andrews, Sheryl Bostwick and Bev Maxwell of Pennsylvania, and many grand nieces and nephews.
Sister Marion taught at St. Ursula School in Baltimore, MD, at Holy Trinity School in Glen Burnie, MD, at St. James School in Mt. Rainier, MD, and St. Joseph School in Beltsville, MD, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Brooklyn, NY, at Notre Dame Academy in Folson, CA, and at St. Camillus and St. Martin, T Street in Washington, DC. Sister Marion was Pastoral Assistant at Immaculate Heart Parish in Chester, PA and Director of Better Housing for Chester, PA.
Sister Marion loved music and could play many instruments; the most favored was the saxophone. Sister used this talent in her ministries and to bring joy and laughter to her communities.
The visitation will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013, from 1:30-2:45 at Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati (513-821-7448), followed by the Mass of Christian burial and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati OH, 45215.
