Bill was born in Warren, Ohio on June 11, 1930 to Charles H. Evans and Gladys (Pinney) Evans.
Bill graduated from Ravenna High School in 1949 and Miami University (OH) in 1957. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War from 1951-1955 and completing his Master in Education at Kent State in 1961.
He started his teaching and coaching career at Garfield High School then moved to Mogadore in 1962. He taught Industrial Arts and coached football at Mogadore – winning three consecutive PCL Championships from 1968-1970. Bill was very active in the Mogadore Athletic Boosters and the Mogadore Lion’s Club. He received the O.H. Somers award in 1974.
He loved his wife, kids, and grandkids as well as Mogadore and Mogadore football. He enjoyed his annual trips to Las Vegas with his brother-in-law Brown, cheap cigars, his monthly poker group, and traveling with his best friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years Erlene (Hoskins) Evans, son Ted Evans (Teresa Suman Evans) of Williamsburg, VA; daughter Julie Jordan of Southport, NC and grandchildren: Stephanie Lambeth of Myrtle Beach SC, Kyle Evans and Logan Evans of Williamsburg, VA.
Graveside Services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, 6698 N. Chestnut St. Ravenna, Ohio at 11:00 A.M. on Monday June 30,, 2014 with Pastor David Ballert officiating.
In lieu of flowers – the family asks that donations be made to the Mogadore Athletic Booster Club, P.O. Box 64, Mogadore, OH, 44260 in the name of Bill Evans.
