Bill was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on April 17, 1944 to parents Ernest and Eunice (Merrill) Hanna. Bill was retired from General Motors after 36 years of service as a reliability manufacturing engineer. He was an avid NASCAR fan and collector, especially Dale Earnhardt. Bill was also a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, liked Farmall tractors and enjoyed and took pride in restoring two 1957 Chevy’s, one a hardtop and the other a convertible. Bill had also been a faithful member of Liberty Bible Church in Atwater. Most important to him was his family and loved them all so much.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine “Cathy”, and his daughters Debbi (Jim) Sanders, Judy (Tod) Welch and Janet (Chad) Kovick. He also leaves his grandchildren Nicole & Tiffany Sanders, Matthew (Kristin) Welch & Alexis “Lexi” Welch and great-grandson Keegan Welch. Surviving also is his brother Frank Hanna, sisters’ Ruth King, Betty (Jim) Naugle and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna on Thursday, January 30, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, and again on Friday, January 31, from 10:00am until 11:00am funeral service, officiated by Pastor Paul Phillips. Interment will follow at Charlestown Cemetery.
Bill’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Taylana, Kaitlyn, Gayle, Sharon and Robin for their wonderful care and compassion given to Bill and our family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name can be made to the ALS Association or to the family to help offset final expenses.
