Walter R. Snyder

Walter R. Snyder Sr. age 77, of Lower Salem, formerly of Randolph, Oh passed away Tuesday February 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 9, 1936 in Kent, Oh, a son of the late Earl Jason and Pauline Brannen Snyder. Walter married Sandra Houck on February 8, 1958. She was the daughter of Julia and James Houck who were life residents of Randolph.

Walter coached Little League for many years competing in many State Competitions. He played softball and basketball for many years and as well as bowling in area leagues. Walter graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School where he was on the basketball team. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 35 years of service.

He was loved and will be missed by his family, wife Sandra C. Houck Snyder, and sons: James Snyder of Randolph and Timothy (Barbara) Snyder of Sebring, Oh; daughter Beth Snyder of Randolph; his grandchildren: Jonathan, Renee, Matthew, Andrew, and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Jasmine, Aiden and Noah, his sister Ruth McKay of Kent and his daughter-in-law Chris Snyder of Hartsgrove, Oh. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Walter R. Snyder Jr. and his brother Richard Snyder.

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 12:00 P.M. until the 1:00 P.M. Memorial Service officiated by Pastor David Ballert.
