He was born November 13, 1919, in Randolph, Ohio, a son of the late Linus J. and Lena M. (Wise) Eichler. Walter was a veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII. He met his future wife, Muriel, while stationed in England, on Christmas Eve, 1943.
Walter was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Post #1325 Catholic War Veterans, and an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Randolph. He retired from Gougler Industries on August 31, 1982, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife Muriel (Spencer) Eichler, his sons David L. Eichler and Ken E. Eichler, and his brothers Bob, Paul, and Sylvan Eichler. He is survived by his daughters-in-law Kathy Eichler and Therese Eichler, grandchildren: Dennis (Michelle) Eichler, Christopher Eichler, and Eric Eichler, and his great-granddaughter Melanie Eichler, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Ed Wieczorek at 11:00 AM on Monday at St. Joseph Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd, Mogadore. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.
