Virginia Helen Jones

Virginia was born October 13, 1937 in Colebrook, Ohio to Hubert U. and Helen A. (Finlaw) Spencer. She lived most of her life in Palmyra. Virginia was a homemaker and an LPN, retired from Alliance Community Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Virginia was a very creative person and spent many hours on her arts and crafts projects, many of which adorned her home. Virginia was the first woman to be a member of the Palmyra Township Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT. She was also a 51 year member and past Matron of Palmy Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband Robert L. Jones and sons: David E. (Susie) Stewart of Palmyra and Kile W. (Michelle) Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO. Surviving also is her sister Doris (Will) Buchanan of Ormond Beach, FL., her brother Butch (Linda) Spencer of Palmyra, granddaughters: Heidi Summers, Kylene Nutter and Kaley Stewart, great-grandson Jacob Tyler and great-granddaughters: Leah and Lily Nutter.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 10:00 A.M. until the 12:00 P.M. funeral service officiated by Pastor Jeffery Street. Interment will follow at Palmyra West Cemetery.
