Ruth E. Green

She was born August 4, 1938, in Tallmadge, Ohio, to parents Ralph and Irene (Jones) Cross. Ruth graduated from Ravenna Township High School in 1957, and later from Bohecker’s Business College. She worked as a secretary for several area companies and organizations, including the Coleman Foundation.

Ruth was a longtime active member of the First Christian Church in Kent and was named an Elder Emeritus. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star Ravenna Chapter 46 for over 60 years. Ruth enjoyed sewing and needlework. Often she and her husband would take their pieces to local craft shows.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband John R. Green Sr., whom she married 61 years ago on June 26th. Also surviving are her son: John (Valerie) Green Jr., grandchildren: Justin (Jill Perry) Green, Joshua (Rachel) Green, great-grandchildren: Madison Green, Maci Green, Mackenzie Park, and Max Park, as well as her brother Jerry (Mary Jo) Cross and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim and Don Cross, and her infant son.

Friends and family will be received Monday, June 17, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Julie Cory at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
