A graduate of Ravenna High School, Roger owned and operated his own beauty salon in Ravenna for many years prior to his employment with the Portage County court system. During his 22 years with the court system, he served as bailiff for the late Judge George E. Martin, was Director of the Bureau of Support, and retired as a bailiff for Judge John Enlow.
Following his retirement, Roger enjoyed spending the last twelve winters in N. Fort Myers, Florida with his wife Judy but looked forward to returning to Ohio to spend the summers at the lake and fishing with his best buddy and grandson, Brandon.
Roger was an avid fisherman and bocce player, member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ravenna, Moose Lodge 1234, and the Italian American Society, as well as a former member of the Ravenna Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife Judy (nee Kasch) to whom he had been married 48 years, he is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Stephen) York of Hudson, son Steve (Cristina) Watkins of Cancun, Mexico, grandson Brandon Higgins of Hudson, granddaughter Sophia Watkins of Cancun, sister Peggy (Jim) Richardson of Doylestown and his beloved aunts Helen Jaros of Deerfield, and Frances Wilkinson of N. Canton.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at the Grace Episcopal Church, with a time of fellowship to follow in the Parish Hall.
