Robert Drugan passed away October 7, 2017 at The Woodlands in Ravenna, Ohio. Born July 4, 1923 to Mable and John Drugan in Ravenna, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Kunst Drugan, his brothers Edward, Walter, Ralph and sisters Ruth DiPaola and Inez Staley.
Robert is survived by many nieces and nephew including Robert Kunst and God daughter Sandra ( DiPaola) Alger. He had such loving, caring neighbors including Carol and Jerry Joiner and Rosemary Reyes to mention a few. The family thanks The Woodlands, UH Seidman Cancer Center and Crossroads Hospice for the loving care they gave to Robert.
A veteran of World War II, Robert served in the infantry division of field artillery. He saw combat in Germany, Bavaria and Czechoslovakia. He also served in Japan in 1945 during the Occupation bunking in a Japanese barrack.
He worked at the County Auditor’s office, Robinson Memorial & Rittman Hospitals and retired from ODOT. He was a life member of the Knights Of Columbus, an Immaculate Conception usher, and a member of the VFW and Moose in Ravenna. A sports participant into his late 60’s and bowling into his 90’s, Bob loved baseball, golf and bowling. He was a devoted fan of his Cleveland Indians and the Buckeyes.
The family will receive friends at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 9:30am until the 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. William Kraynak. Inurnment will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ravenna with military honors. Donations in his memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or your local VFW designated for Veterans In Need Fund.
