He was born July 19, 1934, in Athens, Ohio, to parents William and Lillian (Ney) Lohmier. Richard was a hardworking man who loved his family. He was an attendant at several service stations throughout the years. Richard proudly served his country as a member of the US Army, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed bowling.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Betty (Battaglia) Lohmier, as well as their children: Grace (Brian) Beers of Streetsboro, Marjory (Richard) Hauck of Hunting Valley, Richard Lohmier of Stow, and Carl G. Lohmier of Ravenna. Richard’s memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Sandy Parker, Jennifer Beers, Nicole (Andrew) Riffle, Maxx Schumann, Brittany (Mathew) Mlazovsky, and Danicia (Dave) Dunlap; his great-grandchildren: Oliver Jacob Riffle, Morgan, and Jack Gehres; his sisters: Marjory Battaglia of Kent and Lilly Ann Haggard of Indiana; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Isabelle Burns, and his brothers William, John, Robert, and Lender Lohmier.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend William Kraynak at 10:00 AM on Monday at Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army and VFW Post 1055 Honor Guard.
