Richard Kline

Richard John Kline, age 89, of Rootstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Vista Veranda Senior Living after a period of declining health. Richard was born January 12, 1934 in Rootstown to the late Sylvan and Beatrice (Luli) Kline.

Richard was a 1952 graduate of Rootstown High School. He was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Church. He worked for Oak Rubber Company, the Record Courier, and retired from the Kent State University. He was a proud veteran serving the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Richard was an avid sports fan, he liked watching the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, especially in his garden.

Besides his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, William Kline, sister-in-law, Barbara Kline and brother-in-law, Dale Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorcas Ann Kline; his children, Patricia A. (David) Wilson of Rootstown and Susanna Jones of Akron; two granddaughters, Sarah Wilson of Castletown, NY and Jessica Wilson of Rootstown; and his sister, Thelma Turner of Mantua.

Friends and family may call 11-12pm, Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 East Main St. in Ravenna where the funeral service will begin at Noon with burial to follow; Interment with military honors will be at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
