Richard was born in Ravenna, Ohio on January 3, 1932 to parents Walter and Hazel Harper. He was retired as a machinist and most recently was a resident of Maplewood Care Center. Over the years he enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and liked to hunt and fish as well. In earlier years he also enjoyed woodworking.
Richard is survived by his children: Nancy Oberholtzer and Richard Harper, Jr. Also surviving is his grandson, Shawn Oberholtzer, his brothers: Gene (Barbara) Harper, Tom (Charlotte) Harper, Gale Harper and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Martz, his brothers: Walter Harper, Jr., Jerald Harper, Jack Harper and Roger Harper and his sisters: Leona Ferguson, Margaret Anderson and Janet Tackett.
Friends will be received on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM Funeral Service officiated by Pastor David Ballert. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
