Michael was born in Akron, Ohio on April 26, 1928 to parents John Paul and Margaret Eveline (Babich) Koval. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. After his service he became a pattern maker for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., retiring after 42 years of service. Michael attended St. Joseph Church in Cuyahoga Falls while residing there for 20 years where he enjoyed his involvement as an usher. He and his family moved to his boyhood home in Rootstown in 1985 where he attended and ushered at St. Peter of the Fields church until 2004. Michael and his wife have continued to worship at St. Joseph Church in Randolph since 2004. In his spare time he enjoyed wood-working, building garages and listening to polka music.
Michael is survived by his wife of 60 years, Esther (Mosser) Koval and his children: Therese Kovacs, Stephen Koval, Michael George Koval, Jr. and Karen Koval. He also leaves his four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two loving nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eveline Spaeth and brother John Smith.
Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. Thomas Acker, S.J., will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Randolph, Oh. Inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron will take place at a later date.
