Born April 5, 1950 in Columbia, Missouri, he was the eldest son of the John D and Priscilla Cook Erwin.
Mike graduated from Hudson High School in 1968, served in the U.S. Army in Hanau, Germany, with the 45th Medical Battalion, as a company clerk. He received medic training, and was discharged a Specialist 5. He graduated from the Kent State University School of Nursing with a BSN (1980) and earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Central Michigan University (1984). He worked in Training and Development for Robinson Memorial Hospital, at Summa - Akron City Hospital, and retired from the Cleveland Clinic in 2013.
Mike was a lifelong fan of motorsports, especially Formula One. He also was enjoyed classic rock music, travel, and art museums. He was a particular fan of the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and Ansel Adams. During his retirement he developed a fondness for British Premier League Football. Mike was also affiliated with Mensa.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen Dodd Erwin, his son David Erwin of Kent; his brother, Daniel (Lisa) Erwin, of Lebanon, IN; his sister Kristine Porcher of Montgomery, Texas; brother Matthew Erwin of Albuquerque, NM; sisters -in-law Sheila Dodd of Akron, OH, Laura Dodd of Columbus, IN, Susan (Ben) of OH; and nephews Drew Porcher, Gabriel Erwin, Patrick Torma, Andrew Baker, Nicholas Baker and niece Meredith Erwin. He is also survived by Steve Ensinger of Sacramento, CA, who was like another brother to him.
Michael was predeceased by a brother, David Clay Erwin in infancy, and sister-in-law Maureen Dodd Torma (Michael), and dear friend Frank Canda, of Akron, OH.

Monday August 2, @ 10 am. Inurnment will take place Monday afternoon at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
