After 20 years of battling Wegener’s Syndrome (auto-immune disease), Matt Nicholas passed away on Friday, June 1st, 2018. Born February 8, 1979, in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Chuck Nichols and Debbie Horner. He moved to Kent, Ohio when he was 1 year’s old with Chuck and his older brother Mike. Chuck later married Christine Dunfee. Chris and her daughter Jennifer completed the family. Matt grew up in Kent and attended the Kent City Schools and graduated from Kent Roosevelt. Matt enjoyed all types of music and sang in the choirs at Roosevelt. He liked movies and was very good at trivia games. Being outdoors was always a joy and he loved all types of animals. Matt was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Kent, Oh. Although he never was able to work full time he did enjoy working at the Record-Courier, Mantaline and delivering parts at the NAPA store in Streetsboro, Oh. Matt is survived by his daughter Addyson Simons of Deerfield, Oh; parents, Chuck and Chris of Freedom Twp Oh; brother, Mike (Marshelle) Nichols of Fort Collins, Colo; step-sister, Jennifer Nichols of Ravenna Oh; grandfather, Charles Nichols of Kent, Oh; uncle and aunt, Ed & Vicki Nichols of Kent, Oh; aunt & uncle Jan and Jim McGinnis of Beaver, Pa; niece, Maddison Nichols of Fort Collins Colo. He also will be missed by cousins, John (Brooke) and Chris (Kristin) and many relatives and friends across the country. Cremation has proceeded and “A Celebration of Life” will take place at a later date. Thank you to all who made Matt’s time on earth a pleasure. WE WILL MISS YOU.
