Mathew L. Mahony

Mathew was born in Bristol, Pa. on November 12, 1939 to parents Harold Alfred and Berniece Mary (Mecealis) Mahony.

Mathew earned an associate degree and enjoyed a long career as an electrician with Goodyear Aerospace/ Loral having a high level of government clearance. He was a long-standing member of St. Peter of the Fields church in Rootstown and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He loved flying model airplanes and launching rockets as a member of the Goodyear Model Airplane Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time on his 30’ pontoon boat with his family.

He is survived by his daughters Sherry (Steve) Daugherty of Philippi, W.Va. and Christine (Joe) Strahler of Akron, Ohio. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Misty (Jimmy) Basford, Derick (Annabel) Hoskin and Lydia & Andrew Strahler. He also leaves his great-grandchildren Dakota, Colton, Kannon, James, Travis and many loving nephews.

Mathew was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gerry Mahony, two brothers and one sister.

Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St. Ravenna, on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4pm until the 6pm funeral service, officiated by Rev. William Kraynak.

Mathew’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone at the Hospice of the Western Reserve who graciously and compassionately cared for our loving dad. Thank you also to dad’s loving and caring neighbors Arla and Allen Daves.
