She was born May 3, 1937, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents George Campbell and Gertrude Valjean (Milton) Proctor. Mary worked for many years as a home health aide. She was a former member of the Ravenna Avenue Church of God and the Community Fellowship Chapel in Akron, where she sang in both of their choirs. She enjoyed the solitude of her computer games and always watched the news, because she wanted to “know what’s going on.”
Mary is survived by her daughter Yolanda (Murray) Jackson of Ravenna, her grandchildren: Donte Butcher, William Butcher, Torian Jackson, her sister Wanda Proctor of Akron, as well as her nephews Rodney and Christopher Proctor, and her extended family.
Friends will be received Friday, January 8, 2016, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where Apostle Earl Thomas will officiate the funeral service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
