Born May 24, 1936 in De Kalb, WV, she was the daughter of Worthy and Effie (Valentine) Springston. She was a graduate of Southeast High School.
Mary Lou had lived in the Edinburg community and was a member of the Edinburg United Church for 71 years. She had worked at Flintkote Pipe and retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, gardening, entertaining, and volunteering at church with her husband Chuck; and most of all spending time with her blended family, especially her granddaughters, Danika and Dena Luketic.

She is also survived by granddaughters Danika (Lauren) Seever, Joelle (Michael) Liedtke, Erinne (Clifton) Longobardi, and Nikki Hinchee, great grandchildren Isla and Meleah Seever, Cooper and Anneliese Liedtke, C.J and Olivia Longobardi, Victoria Nichols and Wesley Smith; and great-great grandchildren, Carter Smith and Spencer and Lucas Nichols.
Surviving also are her sister-in-laws, Mildred Roth and Barbara Springston, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles I. Johnson and granddaughter, Dena Luketic; her parents and sister Sylvia Springston, sisters and brothers-in law Anna and Robert Phillips, Alma and Wilfred Givens, Johnnie and June Johnson, and brother Charles Springston; and nephews Carl Roth, Joshua Johnson, and Doug, Neal, Steve and Roger Phillips.
