Born on June 7, 1942, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Wise) Rhodes. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school in Ravenna and graduated from Villa Maria High School in Villa Maria, Pa.
Lois was a radiation therapist for 40 years, most of those years with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute located in Boston, MA where she achieved the position of chief therapist. She settled in Boston with her sister in 1967. Lois resided in Stoughton, MA for over 30 years before relocating to Scottsdale, AZ after retiring. While in Scottsdale, she was a faithful member of St. Maria Goretti Church and an active member of their St. Vincent de Paul Society. In her younger years she loved skiing and experiencing all New England had to offer with her sister Mary Ellen. One of her great passions was traveling, exploring multiple places across different continents including Europe, Africa, and South America. A strong independent woman, Lois would never shy away from a good debate, especially politics. Nothing gave Lois more enjoyment than spending time with her family. Family was everything to her.
Lois is predeceased by her parents, younger sister Mary Ellen Rhodes-Rice, and nephew Thomas Rhodes. She is survived by her brother Rev. Msgr. David Rhodes of Columbiana OH, Daniel Rhodes (Rosemary) of Aurora OH, and Ruthann Conrad of Powell OH. Her nephews Daniel Rice (Katlin) of Norwell MA, Stephen Conrad (Julee) of Worthington OH, and nieces Alexandra Gensner (Philip) of Dublin OH, Monika Nicotera (Marco) of Atlanta GA, Anita Ramsay (James) of Granite Springs NY, Marianne Atkins (Jeffrey) of Scottsdale AZ, Melinda Pachtner (Mark) of Scottsdale AZ, her granddaughter Ellie Rice of Norwell MA, and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna, with Mass of Christian Burial concelebrated by Rev. Msgr. David Rhodes and Rev. William Kraynak at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
