Lester was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 21, 1945 to parents Lester and Violet Rose (Leibforth) Gauding. He was retired after a long career at Stock Equipment Co. in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and owner of Daily Grind & Sharpening in Ravenna.
Lester was a graduate of Rootstown High School and a long-time member of Ravenna Church of Christ. In his spare time, Lester enjoyed being outdoors, mowing and trimming trees and shrubs. In his younger years, he enjoyed his association with the CB Radio Club and playing bass guitar in a country band called the Country Jammers.
Lester is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis (Decker) Gauding, son Timothy R. (Andrea) Gauding and three grandchildren. Surviving also is his sister Wendy (Tom) Lyon, brother Dennis (Alice) Gauding, sisters-in-law Marilyn (Donald) Hopkins, Beverly (Ed) Lones and many nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey A. Gauding, his parents, his sister Cherryl Smith and his uncles and aunts Robert & Ruth Leibforth and Elmer H. & Heather Leibforth.
Friends will be received at the Ravenna Church of Christ, 3897 Summit Rd., Ravenna, on Thursday, April, 18, 2024 from 11am until the funeral service, officiated by evangelist Keith Kull, beginning at 12pm. Fellowship reception to follow. Interment at Ft. Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar, Ohio, will be held at 11am on Friday, April 19th.
