Judy D. Furness

Judy Furness (Whitacre), age 84 of Ravenna peacefully went to be with her Lord and savior on March 9, 2023, surrounded by her children and family.

Judy was born July 4, 1938, in Brady Lake, Ohio to late Ray and Ruth Whitacre. She spent her working years caring for newborns at the local maternity ward. She wed her late husband James in 1969; she spent the remainder of her years proudly raising their four children and lovingly caring for many neighborhood kids. She was a devoted disciple of Christ-spending much of her time memorizing scripture and faithfully attending Bethel Baptist Church of Ravenna. She enjoyed visiting local establishments, Guido’s Pizza and Catering of Ravenna was a family favorite where her and husband “Jimbo” frequented. She loved reminiscing about the past and spending time with her children grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves behind her children; Craig (Jen) Furness, Michael (Danielle) Furness, Jodi (Mark) Thomas and Penny Furness; her grandchildren Tyler Furness, Morgan Furness, Shanley (Stephen) Hamilton, Shelby Furness, Tanner Furness, and Kylie Thomas; her three great grandchildren Hadley, Harrison and Olive Hamilton; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Judy was proceeded in death by her parents Ray and Ruth Whitacre, her 12 siblings, and her loving husband of 42 years James “Jimbo” Furness.

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main Street, Ravenna OH, on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be officiated by Pastor David Ballert at 11 am at Bethel Baptist Church of Ravenna on Friday, March 17, 2023. Interment next to her husband at Grandview Memorial Park will immediately follow.
