He was born February 14, 1939, in Blue Ridge Springs, Virginia, to parents James W. and Anna Dell (Lippencott) Cooper. Joe was a member of Liberty Bible Church in Atwater. He was also a member of Charity Lodge F&AM 530, and a Past Patron of Palmy Chapter 114 OES. He served two terms as an Edinburg Township Trustee in the 1970’s.
Joe retired from General Motors in Lordstown after 30 years of service. His hardworking mentality was instilled at a young age from working several farms in the Edinburg area. Joe also used his maintenance skills to constantly tinker around the house. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and assisting his father-in-law with Hayes Auction.
Joe is survived by the love of his life, Anne Marie (Hayes) Cooper, whom he married 55 years ago. Also surviving are his children: ElizaBeth Cooper of Edinburg and Michael J. (Lisa) Cooper of Nolensville, TN; grandchildren: Kelsey, Emily, and Hayes Cooper; sisters: Barbara Dudek of Birmingham, AL, and Edith Miller Hunt of Gillette, WY, along with many loving nieces and nephews, including Jamie (Denise) Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter JoAnne Cooper, and his siblings: Ruth Caylor, James W. Cooper Jr., Mary Hill, Robert Cooper, Jerry Cooper, Jean Davis, and Nedra Cooper.
Friends will be received Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A Masonic Service will begin at 1:00 PM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Paul Phillips to follow.
