For 38 years I was fortunate enough to have some time with Joe.  He was a positive influence on my life and just a fun person to be around.  I thank God for Joe's positive example in my life as I tried to mirror his devotion to his family.

We remember Joe is an unusually happy and cheerful man, who like to laugh and make others happy. We always enjoyed his joking and kidding around. As much is he made fun of others, he also included himself in his jests. His warmth and happiness was contagious and affected everyone around him!
It is a great comfort to know that Joe knew and loved the Lord Jesus and who said: Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going. Thomas said to him, Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way? Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:16, ESV) 
May the Lord comfort you with these gospel promises: But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
