He was born April 2, 1948, in Montgomery, West Virginia, to parents William McKinley and Pearl Melissa (Dolin) Lovejoy. Johnnie grew up in West Virginia, and moved to Ravenna with his family as a teenager.
He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. Johnnie enjoyed life and liked to have a good time. That often included drinking a cold beer, playing his guitar, or listening to country music. He also enjoyed fishing, watching Westerns, playing cards, and shooting guns and his bow. However, most of all, he enjoyed his time spent with his family.
Johnnie is survived by his children: Johnny Ray Lovejoy, Christal Lovejoy, David Lovejoy, Robert Lovejoy, Nina (Raymond) Aldridge, Rocky Lovejoy, Clayton (Kayla) Lovejoy, Keith (Ashley) Lovejoy, and Kyle Lovejoy. His memory will also be cherished by his 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Johnnie is also survived by his brothers: Brownie (Martha) Lovejoy and Kenny Lovejoy, along with many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, including Donna Judge and Connie Workman.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, his son Cory Lovejoy, and his siblings: Rev. Everett Lovejoy, Harry Lovejoy, Rexford Lovejoy, William Lovejoy, Frankie Lovejoy, and Mary Stanley.
