He was born May 25, 1953, in Akron, Ohio, to parents James R. and Mary L. (Sterling) Eskridge. John graduated from Rootstown High School in 1971, where he excelled at football and basketball. He continued playing basketball for Kent State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Math. John remained an avid, knowledgeable sports fan throughout his life.
John began his career as a math teacher in North Olmstead and occasionally as a substitute teacher for Rootstown. He later earned his Series 7 License and worked as a financial advisor with L&M Financial in North Canton. After retirement, John spent much of his free time day trading.
John is survived by his beloved wife Kathy (Nichols) Eskridge, who he married October 27, 1996. He is also survived by his daughter: Bobbie (Grant) Clark, daughter-in-law Heather Eskridge, step-daughter Lori Moore, and grandchildren: Morgan, Mason, Gerry, DeAnna, and Dasha. John’s memory will also be cherished by his siblings Susan (Scott) LeMonte and Jim (Donna) Eskridge along with generations of nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his son Tom Eskridge, his siblings: Bruce Eskridge, Pamela Batsch, and Bob Eskridge, his brother-in-law Bob Batsch, and his sisters-in-law Kathy and Linda Eskridge.
His wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Friday, March 3, 2022, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, with a memorial service officiated by Pastor Susan Woodall at 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna.
