Janet Eileen Young

RAVENNA- Janet Eileen Hayes-Young, age 72, was born October 19, 1950. She was the daughter of George L. and Elizabeth (Driscoll) Hayes. Janet was a graduate of Southeast High School and attended Kent State University.

Janet had a diverse work history that started by working for her father's Edinburg Auction. She initially helped her Grandmother Zorada Hayes run the popcorn machine in the auction arena and progressed to the sale-barn snack shop. She later helped in different roles for her brother John. Janet lived in Daytona Beach, Florida, Richmond, Virginia briefly and in Portage County. She was a NASCAR fan. Dale Earnhardt was one of her favorite drivers and departing on the same date as he is fitting. Janet was also a long-time Jimmy Buffett fan.

She was a past Matron and 50-year member of Palmy Chapter OES.

Janet married Steve Young on July 1, 2011. Janet won a bridal makeover in NYC and was featured on the Hoda and Kathy Lee show April 2011.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents. She was delighted to be a grandma to Steve’s eight grandchildren. She leaves her husband, Steve; her sisters, Anne Cooper and Linda (Denny) Lewis, her brother John L. Hayes, seven nieces and nephews, ten great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew she did not get to meet. She will also be missed by her cousins.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
