He was born September 13, 1940, in Boyers, Pennsylvania, to parents John K. and Lottie (Seelbaugh) Montgomery. James proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Navy. While still enlisted in the Navy, Jim married his beloved wife, Nancy Louise (Hoffman) on November 17, 1962.
Jim retired from General Motors in Lordstown in 1995 and was a member of the UAW. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Jim was also a skilled woodworker and won several awards for his entries in the Portage County Randolph Fair.
Jim is survived by his: sons: James R. Jr., Doug, and daughter Lisa (Joe Davis) Holland, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Montgomery, his son Gary Dean Montgomery, his brothers: Ronald, Jack, and Boyd Montgomery, and his sisters: Mabel McGinnis, Beryl Hovis, and Beryle “Billie” Ivell.
Services will be held June 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Eau Claire Cemetery in Pennsylvania with military honors.
Jim’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his next door neighbors, Ken and Jessie Bish, as well as his nieces Deanne, Kim, and Renee for caring for Jim these past few years.
