He was born December 8, 1930, in Carrollton, Ohio, to parents Walter Bell and Louise (Hilker) Lindsay. Jim was an active member of the Atwater community. He was a longtime member of the Atwater Congregational Church, volunteered with the Atwater Fire Department, served as a township clerk, and drove a school bus for Waterloo. He later retired from the Ravenna Arsenal as a stationary engineer.
Jim served his country as a member of the National Guard. He also worked part time as a mailman. He enjoyed golfing and shot a hole-in-one. Jim also enjoyed camping. He and his wife Betty camped in all 50 states.
On January 20, 1951, Jim married the love of his life, Betty Lance. He is also survived by his sons: Jim W. (Rhonda), Tom L. (Beth), and Mike R. (Malinda), as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walter Bruce Lindsay.
Jim’s wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family will be received Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Rich Hall at the Atwater Congregational Church. Private inurnment will take place at Atwater Cemetery.
