Helen Marie Nichols Slater

She was born on December 31, 1925, in Streetsboro, Ohio, to parents Charles and Lucy (Davies) Nichols. Helen was a devoted homemaker, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She was a member of Grace Church of Rootstown and a former member of the Northampton Baptist Church.

Helen is survived by her sons: Gary (Beth) Slater of Rootstown and Richard (Chris) Slater of Ravenna; as well as her granddaughter Jessica Slater.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Leroy Slater in 1989, her brothers George, Harold, Oscar, and Bob Nichols, and her sister Anne Moore.

Friends will be received Wednesday, March 12, 2014, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grace Church of Rootstown, 4808 Tallmadge Rd., Rootstown, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Ron Regas at 1:00 PM on Thursday. Entombment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula.
