Helen Louise Cardinal

Helen was born in Bedford, Ohio on September 9, 1926 to parents Ola and Velma (Post) Starkey. She was retired from the Ravenna Women’s Shelter where she worked as the bookkeeper. For many years, Helen also volunteered as the head polling worker for the Board of Elections. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ravenna where she had been active in many groups. Helen was a kind, loving and funny woman. She had been a member of the Red Hat Society and thoroughly enjoyed her time spent at the Portage County Senior Center, attending almost every day. She loved motorcycles and always enjoyed her ride every year on her birthday, the last one when she had turned 90!

Helen is survived by her daughter Cheryl Lane and her grandchildren: Melissa (Christopher Mayle) Reed, Jeremie Greenwell, Heather Knight, Stefanie Lane and Tim Knight. She also leaves her beloved 18 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Left also to cherish her memory are nieces and nephews, Bob (Jan) Wymer, Linda Sutliff and Brett Wymer.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Deborah Knight, her granddaughter Crystal Knight and her sister Flossie Wymer.

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 11am until the funeral service beginning at 12pm with Pastor Dan Caruso officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

It is required that everyone attending services wear a mask and practice social distancing. The number of individuals permitted in the funeral home at any one time will be limited.
