Gloria was born in Ravenna, Ohio on January 9, 1926 to parents William and Edna Elgin. She worked at the Ravenna Arsenal on the ammunition line and at the Oak Rubber Co. for over 19 years and subsequently retired from Robinson Memorial Hospital where she worked as a secretary in the Emergency Room. Gloria was a strong, compassionate, loving women full of wisdom, many times offering advice in her own strong way. Her family and friends were her life.
She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Schaffer and Eileen Eberly. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Eberly and Craig (Karen) Eberly. She also leaves her great-grandchildren: Garrett & Keaton Eberly, Patrick, Tim, Ryan, Katie and Emma Eberly and many loving nieces, nephews, and their families. Gloria will be sadly missed by extended family Mary Schwab, Kim (Dennis) Franklin, Fallon, Lilly and Emelia, Kiev (Kim) Schwab, and Cory & Olivia. She also leaves her favorite painter, Chuck Judy and fur babies Penny and Tinker.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, sons: Louie “Skip” Schaffer and Al Schaffer and son-in-law, Tom Eberly. Also preceded in death by her brothers: Harold (Francis) Elgin, Donald (Edith) Elgin and sisters: Dorothy (Bill) Morris, Fern (Floyd) Morris, Hazel (Bud) King, Betty (Robert) Devine and Helen Elgin.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
