Frank was born on February 24, 1933 in Kent, Ohio to parents Upshaw and Ossie (Woods) Head. He enjoyed a long career as a self-employed carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War conflict. After being honorably discharged Frank then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring after 28 years of service. During this period, he also served as an embassy guard at the U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.
Frank had been a resident of Ravenna for over 50 years until moving to the Akron area to be closer to his children. In his spare time, he enjoyed socializing at the Kent American Legion, gardening, making wine, attending auctions and reading, especially the news. Most important to Frank was his grandchildren and his family.
His wife of 58 years, Hedy (Schaad) Head and his daughters Edna (Pat) Boyle, Christine Head and Elisa (Arthur) Hill survives Frank. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Christopher, Patrick, Ciannah, Maaliyah, Alana, Brandon, Aidan and his great-granddaughter Lilyanna Nova. Frank will also be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Ann Thomas, Willie Lee Watts, Lois Little and Gladys Watts.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 10-11am. Funeral services, with Marine honors, will begin at 11am. Interment with full military honors will be held at 2pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
