She was born February 19, 1930, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to parents Edward and Ruth (Waggoner) Doyle. Liz was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married for over 58 years to Guy Earl Baker, who passed away October 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Ann Baker on February 10, 2020.
Because of Guy’s job, the family moved around quite often. Liz lived in 12 different states, finally settling in Shalersville, Ohio. She was known as the area “Avon Lady” and would often volunteer at local churches to feed the less fortunate. Liz was a kind advocate for animals, always stopping along her travels to help one in need.
She loved visiting with her family and the grandkids looked forward to spending summers at “Grandma & Grandpa’s Camp.” Liz was also a talented seamstress. She made all of her kid’s clothes when they were little, as well as Easter and wedding dresses.
Liz is survived by her children: Cathy (Lyle) Hennicke, Sue Peplowski, Guy (Mechelle) Baker, and John Baker, along with 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Her wishes for cremation are being honored. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Liz’s life on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Private burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua.
