Eddie’s parents emigrated from Ukraine and moved to Akron, OH. He graduated from Hower Vocational High School where he studied mechanics. He worked for Children’s Hospital, Firestone, and Chrysler on all manner of mechanical repairs. He was in the Army Reserve for six years and was honorably discharged.
Eddie was able to build his dream home on a large piece of land, with his wife, out in the country like they had always planned. He had known his wife Barbara for 75 years growing up in the same neighborhood together. They enjoyed going out dancing and taking trips on his motorcycle. Eddie had many hobbies and interests. He spent time at the track building cars, racing and loved scuba diving. He kept meticulous personal records, took hundreds of photos, saved correspondence, and mechanical manuals.
He was immensely charitable and took care of his entire family’s every need. Eddie had a humble upbringing and a very successful career. He loved animals - especially Miss Kitty, Miss Kitty, Jr., Blue, Bunny, Olive, Sadie, Bailey, Dudley, Otie, Rambo, and Bumpy. He loved music and his blue armchair. He enjoyed watching Cleveland sports and NASCAR. Eddie was a phenomenal cook. Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, chicken paprikash, and ham and bean soup were his specialties.
He was so beloved that the pain of his loss is unfathomable, but we are all comforted by the fact that he was at peace.
There will be no service, as per his request. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA in his name.
