Born August 31, 1943, in Miami, Florida she moved to Ravenna after her father was discharged from the service after WWII. She and her family lived in the Ravenna area for the past 78 years, attended Ravenna schools and Kent State University. She graduated from Kent State University and taught for a few years after graduation in Warren and in Kent and then retired from teaching to raise her family.
She devoted all of her resources to caring for her family and home, and was as good a mother as anybody could ever find. As her children grew older, she became involved with a horse breeding operation and took care of several horses on her farm and helped with foaling of mares and care of the babies. She also took care of the business end of the farming operation until her retirement several years ago.
Edith was a wonderful homemaker and cook and enjoyed many activities with her husband, including river tours in Europe and trips to Rome, Paris, and London with friends. Four years ago she took a trip to Italy with all of children and grandchildren and saw many cities in Italy, including Sorrento, Naples and Vieste. It was a trip that she and the rest of her family will never forget. She also enjoyed eating at good restaurants with her husband.
She was born the daughter of James and Betty Fitzgerald and her parents lived In the Ravenna area for most of their lives until their passing. In addition to her folks, she also lost her sister Sarah Fitzgerald, Susan Ritzinger, and Elizabeth Dietz, all of whom had surviving children. In addition to her husband, Tom, of 57 years, she is survived by her three daughters, Gaby Miller (Ben) of Westerville, Ohio, Noelle Sicuro-Hartranft (Jay) of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Michelle Sicuro-Maisano (Scott) of Newburyport, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Seth Miller (Morgan), Lily Miller and Hope Miller, and Cora Sicuro-Hartranft and Eve Sicuro-Hartranft. She is also survived by two siblings, her sister Marian Chambers (Lee) of Wabash, IN and her brother Edward Fitzgerald of (Judy) of Nashville, TN.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend William Kraynak on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with friends and family received from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W.
