Don was born to Warren D. and Emma L. (Painter) DeVaul in Canton, Ohio on June 7, 1943 and raised by loving parents Richard and Edna Ehlert.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1962 to 1964. Don had worked managing the Eastwood Center and Game Room at Kent State University until retiring. He then owned and operated Don’s Bait & Tackle on Summit Road for many years. Don loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hiking. He and his late wife were members of the Ravenna VFW, American Legion, Italian-America Club and the Moose Club where they liked spending time with friends. He also enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen for events at the American Legion.
Don is survived by his son Donald N. (Cindy) DeVaul Jr. and his daughter Virginia Morrow. He also leaves his grandchildren Dustin (Samantha) DeVaul, Danielle Morrow, great-grandchildren Trystian & Dakota DeVaul and his niece Sandra Darragh.
His parents, his wife of 55 years, Jacquelin “Jackie” DeVaul and his son-in-law Ted Morrow preceded him in death.
Don’s wishes for cremation are being honored. Due to the Covid-19 virus limitations, the family will announce later a Celebration of Life to be held in his memory at the Ravenna American Legion Post 331.
