Del was born June 1, 1932 in Ravenna Ohio, the only child of Delbert Sr. and Frances (Hickey) Winkelman. Del was a 1950 graduate of Ravenna High School and married Dianna (Stamm) Winkelman on October 6, 1951. Together they shared 38 years of marriage until Dianna’s death in 1989. Del was employed for many years at the Ward-Riddle Company in Ravenna, and later at Allen Aircraft and Ohio Ceramic Supply.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Del enjoyed all Ohio sports teams and played softball for the Akron Silver League, serving as President in 2003.
Del also enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing and family vacations at Bobs Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Del is survived by his wife Marilyn (Gustafson) of Tallmadge, Ohio, son Del (Jayne) Winkelman of Penfield, New York, daughter Brenda (Jeff) Shank of Salem, Ohio and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at noon at Wood Kortright Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 East Main Street, Ravenna, Ohio. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ravenna, Ohio.
