He was born May 12, 1939, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Bartholomew and Rose (Magargee) Schneider. Dave left school early, but continued his education as an adult by attending Maplewood Career Center night courses. He worked as an upholsterer with Romito-Donnely Corporation until they closed, then continued working for Rose Upholstery in Akron.
David was blessed with the art of conversation. Many of these chats took place over the fence with his neighbors. The discussions were often about another of his passions, gardening. Dave was proud of his abundant garden, especially his tomatoes.
Dave loved Christmas. He would dress up as Santa for different community events. He was also a talented woodworker. He made many wooden decorations and gifts for family and friends, including many Christmas sleighs.
Dave was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and would go on many of their camping trips. In his later years, Dave loved watching old Westerns and going out for ice cream.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife Cindy (Ulrich) Schneider, who he married April 18, 1970. His memory will also be cherished by his children: Stephen Schneider and Margie (Jim) Brittan, his grandchildren: Laura, Logan, Colin, Maegan / Aaron. Dave is also survived by his siblings: Catherine Vlcek, Al Schneider, Agnes (Walter) Calvin, Vince (Becky) Schneider, and Susanna Symons, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
