Dan was born in Portland, Oregon on December 6, 1945 to parents William E. and Eshter L. (Jewel) Ginther. Dan was a 1964 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School and a member of the Roosevelt Alumni Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. Dan retired from Kent State University after 33 years of service. After retiring, he drove for Family & Community Services.
The Kent American Legion Post #496 was his life, spending many hours involved in every aspect of the post and past Commander. Dan was also active in the Masons, a life member of the Kent Elks and life member of the Kent VFW Auxiliary.
Dan was a hardworking man with a great heart and friend to all. He would often buy scratch off tickets for the family for Christmas.
Dan is survived by his brothers Dennis Ginther, Leonard Ginther (Karen McLain) and Robert Ginther. Also surviving are nephews Jeff Ginther, Gregg Ginther and Todd Ginther along with three great-nephews and many loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-in-law Kathy Ginther and Ella Ginther.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Kent American Legion Post #496, 1945 Mogadore Rd., Kent, Oh. 44240, Underwood Hall, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2pm until 5pm.
