He was born November 30, 1909, in Jacksonville, Illinois, a son of the late John A. and Emma (Hoyt) Rawlings. Charles was a deaf educator, serving in many capacities throughout his career. Mr. Rawlings taught in many states, including: New Jersey, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania before retiring from the Lakewood City Schools in 1974. After retirement, he moved with his wife Geraldine to Treasure Island in St. Petersburg, Florida, and has been residing at Copeland Oaks since 1993.
Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife Geraldine (Cropsey) Rawlings, his son Charles Scott Rawlings, his sister Emily, and his brothers Hoyt, John, and Julian.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law: Mary Rawlings of Rocky River, granddaughter: Elizabeth (Donald) Rawlings-Wright of Seattle, WA; as well as his nieces and cousins.
