Catherine "Kay" Sergent

Catherine J. "Kay" (Shull) Sergent, age 86, formerly of Randolph, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was born June 25, 1927, in New Cumberland, WV, the daughter of Homer and Tacy (Wern) Underwood.

Mrs. Sergent was a homemaker. She was an expert at ceramics, often creating gifts for family and friends. She also loved to crochet. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include sons: Wayne Shull of Apopka, Fl. and Jeff (Christine) Shull of Ravenna, daughter: Jackie (Bruce) Forney of Rootstown and step-sons: James "Butch" and John "Bud" Sergent.

Grandchildren: Becky, Emily, Allison, Eric, Natalie and Jennifer along with ten great grandchildren. Brother: Lawrence Underwood of East Rochester, Oh and sisters-in-law: Bonnie Underwood of Mechanicstown, Ohio and Barb Underwood of Kensington, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: John J. Sergent, brothers: Jimmy and Gene Underwood. She also was preceded by two brothers during her childhood.

Friends will be received from 5- 8- pm, Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio, where services will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph.
