Fred was a kind, smart, accomplished, and loving individual. He had a strong passion for learning and excelled in every pursuit. Fred attended American High School in Nuremberg, Germany, where he traversed much of the continent and laid the foundation for his passion for World War II history.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Melody Greene, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He will be deeply missed by his children, Amy Greene, Megan Yates (Benjamin Yates), and Robin Greene McGinness. Fred was a devoted grandfather to Blake Greene, Jake Greene, Logan Yates, Liam Yates, and Josie Yates. He also leaves behind his siblings, Dan Greene, Edythe Christopher, Diane and Lou Dudek, Debi and Dick Gregory, John Drugan, and Judi and Chris Coteff.
Fred was preceded in death by his son Scott Greene, his parents, David Greene and Millicent "Penny" Armbruster, as well as his step-parents, Betty Greene, Norm Velek, and Daniel Armbruster. He also mourned the loss of his siblings Pam Kesti, Tom Greene, Dan Drugan, Tom Drugan, and Carol Mataresse.
Throughout his career, Fred held various roles, including Photographer, Manager of Sales at Rick Case Honda, Silversmith, Civil Air Patrol Captain, Cash register sales for Datasym, and Point of Sales Systems Analyst for Big Lots Corporation. He was a talented individual who had a passion for his work and doing things the right way. He traveled extensively visiting Canada and Mexico, and every state but Alaska.
In his free time, Fred enjoyed pursuing his hobbies, which included flying as an instrument-rated pilot, shooting guns and cannons, and firing rockets. He had a passion for photography, computers, and science. He was always eager to learn and explore new things.
Fred touched the lives of those around him with his kindness, intelligence, and humor. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Friends and family will be received Friday, November 10, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Scott Hindel at 12:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
