Ben Lower

He was born September 28, 1925, in Elkins, West Virginia, to parents Ben and Holly (Ward) Lower. Ben proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Corps of Engineers during WWII in Italy. After returning from the war, Ben married his sweetheart, Gladys Madeline Robinson. The couple eventually made their way to Ohio, and Ben began working at the Ford Motor Company Walton Hills Plant until his retirement 37 years later. Ben loved the outdoors, especially animals, and his visits to West Virginia. He was definitely a “handyman”, and could always be found fixing or tinkering with something around the house.

Ben is survived by his children: Paul Lower, Curtis (Cheryl) Lower, Thomas Richard (Geraldine) Lower, Joseph Lower and Valerie (Mike) Root. Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren: Tammy Lower, Paul Lower Jr., Lisa (Jason) McGregor, Sarah Lower, Derek Lower, Travis (Danielle) Root, Thaddeus (Nicole) Root and his great-grandchildren: Kevin Lower and Erin Root. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys Madeline Lower, siblings: Earl, John, Opal, Virginia, and Patty, as well as his grandson Damian Root.

Friends will be received Monday, October 10, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Reverend Tom Poulin on Tuesday at 12:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
