Alvin Andrew Gorham, 70, of Rootstown, passed away from a long-term illness on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Alvin fought his illness with strength and dignity. On his final day, he was surrounded by his family, whom he adored more than anything in this world.
Alvin “Butch” Gorham was born on June 8, 1950 to the late Julia and Alvin Gorham. He was proceeded in death by his daughter Tammy Sue, his brother Chuck Somoko, his sisters Judy Gorham, Isadore Gray, and Maryann Wilson.
Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Cathy (Gump), his daughters Julie Gonzalez and Chrissy Surprenant, his son Alvin M. Gorham, son-in-law Vinson Surprenant, sister Patricia Hantzche (Joe), his cherished grandchildren Robby Gorham (Brittany), Joey and Nichole Gonzalez, Hannah and Addison Surprenant, & his great-granddaughter Hailey.
Alvin’s career as an X-Ray Technician allowed him to travel the world but he was the most content on his boat with his wife, fishing with friends, watching NASCAR, and cooking.
