Wilma was born on March 29, 1934 in Wake County, to the late Percy and Lucy Gulley. She grew up on her family farm and around her father's country store in Garner. For many years she worked at Ravenscroft School and for the State of North Carolina. She was married to Jim Blake for 56 years, he preceded her in death in 2013. She joined Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh after her husband's death.
Wilma Blake was a loving, caring, and kind person who did everything she could for others. She could talk to any and all walks of life and become fast friends. Wilma was a loving “Mimi” to her grandchildren, an active member of her church, and an all around enthusiastic presence to those she loved. Her beauty, charm, grace and great southern cooking will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Blake Michael Pearce; and her sister, Dora Gulley Bryan.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jana Galvan, Jana’s husband Phillip Galvan, and her granddaughter, Alexandra Hope Pearce; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wilma will be greatly missed by all those who’s lives she touched. She had a heart of gold and was a truly special person.
