Bill Underwood, 86, of Raleigh died on Monday, October 30, 2017. He was born in Asheboro, NC to the late, William A. Underwood, Jr. and Elizabeth Churchill Underwood. After graduating from high school Bill volunteered for service in the US Marine Corps., serving in the Korean War. After the war he made his home in Raleigh, and attended NC State University, finishing with multiple degrees. He was a long time member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees. Bill enjoyed a varied career with over 20 years of service at CP&L.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Underwood of Raleigh; his daughter, Allison Underwood of Tallahassee, FL; and a sister, Elizabeth Parkin of Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 6th at 1:00 pm at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Rd. Raleigh, NC 27608.
