William Steven Edwards

William Steven Edwards passed away Sunday, May 21st, 2023 at the age of 69. A prominent figure in the building supply industry, he served as President of Service Building Supply and Executive Vice President of Carolina Builders. Though a product of both North Carolina State University and the Duke Fuqua School of Business, Steve was a dedicated member of the Wolfpack community having served on the university’s Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2000.

A loving father and devoted husband, his hobbies included golfing, attending his sons’ sporting events, NC State athletics and spending time with his family. He was also an avid reader with a particular interest in early American History.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Lesa Edwards; two sons, Bill Edwards (Davi) and Steven Edwards; his mother, Mary Goodman Edwards; his sister Pamela Edwards Hensley (Bud); and his niece, Lauren Hensley Stanfield (Will); his sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Ray Carter; his niece and nephew-in-law, Dawn and Hal Sparks, and their daughter Hailey Sparks. The family is grateful for the wonderful caring staff at the SECU UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC.

The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road on Monday, May 29th, 2023 from 4-5:30pm. Celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh or North Carolina State University’s William S. and Lesa C. Edwards Scholarship fund.
