This is a tough one for me. Mr. Bertram was the last of the true gentlemen I was surrounded with growing up. I spent much time at the Bertram home as a child. My father met Mr Bertram shortly after moving to Clearfield in 1957 and always held him in high esteem. In fact when I was 18 and had just lost my mother, my father told me that if anything should happen to him my first phone call was to be to Bill Bertram

So sorry to hear this news. Bill and I went to the same grade schools, junior high and high school (not to mention Sunday School and Westside Methodist Church) and graduated from Clearfield High School together in1950.  Bill, Janet Cowdrick, Nancy Maurer (both are maiden names and also were 1950 CHS grads) and I walked to Third Ward School most days. Later in life Bill and his family lived very near to my brother, Rodney Bowers and family.  and became good friends.  Nancy Maurer Lawrence preceded Bill in death by just days. She lived in Missoula, Montana most of her adult life. It's hard to learn of the deaths of old and dear friends. Both Bill and Nancy were among the earth's most beautiful people. May they both rest in peace!  

I had the privilege of serving as Bill and Edna’s pastor at Discovery Village in Naples Florida,  and presided over Edna’s memorial.   He was a wonderful  man and they both loved their  Lord and Savior.  The care and love he showed Edna in her last days was inspiring. I feel blessed to have know them both.
