Wendell Allen Malpass passed away on November 5, 2019 after a long illness. He was born in Lenoir County N.C., and raised in Kinston. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Evans. He served in the Air Force and was a proud NC State graduate. He was a Engineer with Schrader Bellows, and then IBM.
He was a man who pursued a great deal of interests throughout his life. He was an avid reader, and had an appreciation for poetry. He enjoyed the talents of others in art, music, crafting and collecting. His greatest joy was his love of aviation. He was a pilot, and can be remembered saying that when he was aloft, he was at his most jubilant. He collected antique toys, cars and anything else in which he saw beauty and craftmanship.
Wendell was a gentle, kind, faithful husband, father, and friend and he will missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Ann Evans Malpass and his daughters Rebecca Riggsbee, and husband John, Beth Thomas and husband Windsor. His legacy will continue in the four grandchildren and three great grandchildren he leaves behind. He is preceeded in death by his mother, Beatrice Oliver Malpass, and granddaughter Ashley Evan Riggsbee.
We are so blessed to have known and been loved by him. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Alzheimers Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, or the Springmoor Endowment Fund.
