Velma Rhodes Faison

Velma moved to Raleigh after high school to attend nursing school at Dorothea Dix where she met the love of her life and husband, Willie Samuel Faison. They were married December 24, 1945. Velma retired 31 years ago from Westinghouse where she was employed in the accounting department. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church and more recently North Haven Church located in Raleigh, NC. Velma’s lifetime joys were her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Faison; two sons Bill Faison (Sandra) and Mitchell Faison (Jenny); a sister, Magdalene Cribb; grandchildren-Dawn Felton (Brian), Bill Faison Jr. (Emily), Stacey Ogburn (Kevin), Neal Driver (Aaron), Michelle Faison, Shanon Bennett (Jeremy), Wendy Jeffreys (Danny); 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Family will receive friends Sunday evening, September 20th from 6 to 8 pm at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609. Funeral service will be Monday, 11 am at North Haven Church located at 6620 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Graveside services will be held at Montlawn Memorial Gardens in Raleigh at 2 pm.
