Tracy Lee Burnett

Tracy is survived by her spouse Stephen G. Allison; parents Dan and Sharon Burnett of Wake Forest, NC, three siblings - Ben (Christina) Burnett of Washington, DC, Marie Burnett of Raleigh, NC, and Preston Burnett of Chapel Hill, NC. She also leaves behind nephew Alex Burnett, and a niece Emily Burnett, also of Washington DC, and stepsons George and Zachary Allison of Raleigh, NC.

In addition, she leaves her dearest friends - Julie Atherton, Jennifer Gruner, Nicole Dewhurst, Griffin Hall, Kimberly Boyer, and her beloved cat Opie.

Tracy attended Miami University of Ohio and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Proudly, she also achieved her Master of Business Administration degree from North Carolina State University.

Tracy built a successful career over 15+ years in Procurement Management and Strategic Sourcing at KB Homes, BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina, MetLife, Cisco, and most recently, Duke University.

Born March 29, 1981 in Fort Wayne, IN, Tracy was an enthusiastic, competitive athlete excelling in many sports, including basketball, track, and golf.

Tracy cherished her close friends and laughing about the day’s events and past experiences. Tracy could find humor in almost anything. Her laugh was infectious. She had the unique ability to quickly size-up people with uncanny accuracy, yet she appreciated others’ differences and could get along with everyone. Tracy enjoyed gardening, travel, and dining with friends and family.

To us she will always be ……Forever Young.

A memorial service for family and close friends was held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, Raleigh. A Celebration of Life was held Friday, December 8th at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, NC, for those who wish to attend. Tracy requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, by using the link below, under 'Donations'.
